YSEC took part in a national movement to stop the environmental nightmare that is the Keystone XL pipeline. Joining forces with Wesleyan to head to Washington, D.C., YSEC, along with thousands of people from across the country, helped to at least delay the decision to approve the trans-national pipeline. Read more about the president’s decision in the New York Times.
On campus, YSEC’s EnviroAdvocates project group tackled the issue by making a model pipeline, complete with an oil spill, on Cross Campus, coupled with a petition to send to Obama to oppose the pipeline. See YSEC member Cynthia Deng’s YDN op-ed here, and a story about our trip here.
